Guest accommodations in the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan are the focal point of this part of our web guide.

These may include Sault Ste. Marie hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, inns, resorts, recreational vehicle parks, campgrounds, and vacation rentals, although long-term rentals or leases, such as apartments and home leases, would be listed in the Property Sales & Rentals category.

While not huge, Sault Ste. Marie is a sizable city for the Upper Peninsula, second only to Marquette, which has the advantage of a large university population.

Sault Ste. Marie is home to the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge, one of only three bridges connecting Michigan with Canada, and the only one in the Upper Peninsula. This brings people into town, particularly those interested in visiting its sister city of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, which were part of the same city before the borders were fixed at the conclusion of the War of 1812.

Additionally, Sault Ste. Marie has a long history. Settled by French missionaries in 1668, the Sioux people inhabited the area for centuries before that, and they were followed by the Ojibwa. Thus, historic tourism is a significant draw, as well. Other attractions include, of course, the Soo Locks, and the river itself.

Sault Ste. Marie is home to Lake Superior State University, Michigan's smallest public university.

Tourists and visitors come to the city to view area attractions, participate in activities and events, visit the university, or while en route to Ontario, Canada. Whatever the reason, there are several guest lodging facilities in the city, and these are the focus of this category.
