Snover, Michigan is in central-west Moore Township, in Sanilac County, in the Thumb Region of the Lower Peninsula.

Snover is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP). There are no incorporated villages in Moore Township, and Snover is one of only two named communities, Elmer being the other. The township offices are in Snover.

Unincorporated communities in Michigan don't have legally defined boundaries. However, as Snover is a census-designated place, it has boundaries for the purpose of the US census, although they have no legal status.

Downtown Snover is concentrated around the intersection of Snover Road and Wheeler Road. Its western boundary is defined by the South Branch of the Cass River, while an unnamed waterway and Urban Road form its northern boundaries. The western border is Krueger Road in the north, and Bulgrien Road in the south, with Snover Road forming its northern boundary in the center of the CDP, and another unnamed waterway forming its southern border.

Cities and villages within twenty-five miles of Snover include Sandusky, Kingston, Marlette, Deckerville, Carsonville, Cass City, Brown City, Clifford, Peck, Melvin, Applegate, Minden City, and Port Sanilac, while the unincorporated communities of Decker, Elmer, Laing, Juhl, and Argyle are within ten miles.

Snover was named for Horace G. Snover, who represented the district in the United States House of Representatives from 1895 to 1899. A post office was established in Snover on May 7, 1895, with Henry Harrison as the first postmaster. Today, the post office serves the western and northern portions of Moore Township, as well as most of Argyle Township, and smaller areas of Elmer, Marlette, Lamotte, Evergreen, Austin, Wheatland, and Custer townships.
