The focal point of this category is on topics related to belief, faith, religion, and spirituality in Zeeland, Michigan.

Belief can be as simple as an acknowledgment of something as being true although, in the context of religion, it generally refers to a belief in a deity.

There are several definitions of faith, even in the context of religion and theology. It may be used to refer to a body of believers, as in the Christian faith or the Catholic faith. More often, it suggests an attitude on the part of the believer, as in an individual's faith being firm. Hebrews 11:1 states that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Religion is usually defined as a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, as well as a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs. In that sense, it is used to define specific bodies of belief, such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, although branches and sub-branches of these religions might also be referred to as religions. For example, Catholicism, Protestantism, and Anabaptism might be referred to as religions, as well as sub-branches like Lutheranism, Methodism, and Presbyterianism. Further divisions are commonly referred to as denominations or sects, however.

Spirituality can be defined as a life lived within the framework defined by God's Word, or as a focus on the presence of God in one's life. In another context, spirituality can simply mean a focus on purpose in life, or as a worldview.

A recent survey suggests that residents of Zeeland are more religious than those in the average Michigan locality, and slightly more so than the average US locality. While 41.9% of Michigan respondents claimed an affiliation with a religion and 49.4% of US respondents were religious, 53.3% of Zeeland respondents claimed an association with a religion.

Zeeland residents are largely Protestant Christians, with 9.5% of respondents claiming an affiliation with Catholicism. The Presbyterians were the most numerous, by far. They were followed by the Catholics, Lutherans, Methodists, Pentecostals, Mormons, Episcopalians, and Baptists, although nearly ten percent cited denominations that were not included in the survey, or with various non-denominational churches.

Nevertheless, places of worship or ministries in Zeeland, Michigan are appropriate resources for this part of our guide regardless of the particular religion, denomination, or sect.
