Located twelve miles north of Cambridge, fifteen miles southwest of Pine City, sixteen miles south-southeast of Mora, and twelve miles west of Rush City, the city of Braham is in both Isanti County and Kanabec County. Other nearby communities include Andree, Brunswick, Elm Park, Grass Lake, Greely, Rush Point, and Stanchfield. Minneapolis, Minnesota is about fifty-five miles south of Braham. The city is served by Minnesota Highways 65, 70 and 107. The community began as a railroad stop for the Great Northern Railway in the late 1800s. A post office has been there since 1891, and Braham was incorporated as a village in 1901. Each year, on the first Friday of August, the people of Braham celebrate Pie Day, which includes a variety of activities such as craft sales, live music, food stands, games, entertainment, and various types of homemade pies.
