Circle Pines, Minnesota is in southern Anoka County. The main road through the community is County Road 23, which becomes Lake Drive within the city limits. Interstate Highway 35-W is nearby. Circle Pines was formed in 1945 as a planned cooperative community where homeowners owned equal shares in the developing association. The co--op idea was abandoned within three years, and Circle Pines was incorporated as a village in 1950, becoming a city in 1974. Circle Pines is bordered on the south by Lexington. Other surrounding or nearby towns include Blaine, Lino Lakes, Centerville, North Oaks, Shoreview, Arden Hills, Mounds View, and Spring Lake Park. The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul are about fifteen miles south of Circle Pines.
