Located in Chippewa County, Clara City, Minnesota was formed as a railroad station for the Willmar & Sioux Falls Railway in 1887, and named for Clara Koch, the wife of one of the town’s founders. Clara City was incorporated in 1891. The chief routes through the city are Minnesota Highways 7 and 23. Clara City is situated between Maynard and Raymond, along Highway 23. Other nearby communities include Asbury, Gluek, Gracelock, Priam, Prinsburg, Roseland, and Wegdahl. Clara City is about fifteen miles northeast of Granite Falls, eighty miles southwest of St. Joseph, and one hundred and ten miles west of Minneapolis.
