Situated in northeastern Blue Earth County, the city of Eagle Lake is a suburb of Mankato, Minnesota. US Highway 14 and Minnesota Highway 60. Madison Lake is about six miles northeast, Mankato is ten miles west, and Janesville is ten miles southeast of Eagle Lake. The community was platted in 1872, and named for the body of water just north of the city. A post office was established in Eagle Lake in 1873.
