The three-day festival in Excelsior, Minnesota has its origins in Germany more than four hundred years ago, and takes place during the Advent Season to celebrate the coming of the Christ child. The Minnehaha transported tourists and travelers on Lake Minnetonka from 1906 to 1926, when it sank to the bottom of the lake. Salvaged in 1980 and restored, the steamboat was returned to passenger service in 1996, and has operated on the lake ever since. Owned and operated by the Museum of Lake Minnetonka, its history and features are highlighted and shown in photographs and video.
