The city of Hanska is in Brown County, in lower Minnesota. A post office was established there in 1890, the town was platted in 1899, and incorporated as a village in 1901. Hanska is southwest of Linden, and northeast of Godahl. Other nearby communities include Cambria, Courtland, Grogan, Lake Crystal, La Salle, Madelia, and Searles, while Mankato is about thirty miles east of Hanska.
