The farm was situated on a hill above the mill town of Clear Grit, which had thrived for a few years in the late 1860s. Located near Preston, the mill was an expansion site for John Kaercher, Preston’s founder, and had a barrel factory that made flour containers. The site became a cattle farm, and horse racing venue. Left to languish for many years, the barn and farm were restored, and now serves as a guest facility, with a golf course, restaurant, and bar.
