Saint Paul is the second most populous city in Minnesota, and one of the cities in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, where about sixty percent of the state's population resides.
In order to serve its own population, as well as those of the neighboring communities, Saint Paul maintains a hundred and sixty parks, and forty-one recreation centers, spread throughout the city. There is also the Como Zoo Park and Conservatory, which features several animal exhibits.

Saint Paul's own history goes back to 1849, and the city is the seat of government for Ramsey County and the State of Minnesota. Every year, Saint Paul draws in millions of visitors to its concert, theater, and art venues. As examples, there is the Xcel Energy Center, an all-purpose facility that is home to the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League. The Roy Wilkins Auditorium hosts concerts, sporting events, tradeshows, and other events, and the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts presents a variety of events, such as drama, music, and dance. Then there is the Fitzgerald Theater, Saint Paul's oldest surviving theater space, built in 1910.
Festivals, fairs, and other events are held in various places within the city year-round. These include, but are not at all limited to, the Festival of Nations, Grand Old Day, the Irish Fair of Minnesota, and Music in Mears, a free summer concert series held in Mears Park.
There is no shortage of sports. Saint Paul is home to the Minnesota Wild, the Minnesota Whitecaps, and the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament, as well as the Minnesota United FC, the Saint Paul Saints, and the Minnesota Roller Girls. Besides the professional and semi-professional sports teams, there are school and community sports programs for children, youth, and adults.
Golfers have a choice between the Como Golf Course, Highland Park Nine Hole Golf Course, Highland National Golf Course, or Phalen Park Golf Course.
There are several private bowling facilities, and the Minnesota State Bowling Association is headquartered in Saint Paul. Plus, many of Saint Paul's several parks and recreation areas have sports fields or facilities.

The SMSP is a 3-foot by 2-foot micro museum, housed in a vintage firehose cabinet outside the Workhorse Coffee Bar in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Established through funding by the John S. and James L. Twin City Model Railroad Museum
Originating in the hobbies of a group of modelers who organized as the St. Paul Craftsman Club in 1934, after several changes in name and location, the museum has grown to become a popular museum.
