Our Places to Stay category is a guide to guest lodging facilities, such as hotels, motels, and the like, in the city of Winona, Minnesota.
Winona is a regional hub for industry, commerce, and tourism. Given its position in the center of the navigational section of the Mississippi River, which forms Minnesota's border with Wisconsin, with Interstate Highway 90 passing just south of the city, and US Highway 14 running through the center of town, Winona is easily accessible.
There are several scenic parks in and around Winona, including Prairie Island Park and Lasch Island, both of which are within the city and along the river. Abutting the northern section of the city, as its west border, is the Upper Mississippi River Wildlife and Fish Refuge, a portion of which is in the city limits, and just across the river, on the Wisconsin side, is the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge.
The bluffs of Winona are beautiful, and the city offers numerous historical sites and magnificent architecture. Seasonally, there are Mississippi River cruises, city walking tours, eagle viewing tours, and scenic walks. The city has a rich cultural heritage, which is represented in its arts and theater programs, festivals, and live music.
Apart from its four-season value for vacationers, tourists, and recreationalists, the city is home to several industries, a large commercial center, much of which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota brings visitors into town, as well.
Of course, there is also the business of the county. As the City of Winona serves as the county seat for Winona County, the county courthouse and most of its departments and offices are in the city.
In order to serve those who are visiting the city for a night, a week, or a season, there are several hotels, motels, rental cottages, inns, bed and breakfasts, vacation rentals, and campgrounds in Winona, and this is a guide to the places where you can stay while visiting the city of Winona on a temporary basis.
