Gloster is a small town in Amite County, Mississippi, about two miles south of the Homochitto National Forest. Served by Mississippi Highways 24 and 33, Gloster is just north of the small community of Tatum and larger Centreville. Other nearby communities include Beechwood, Berwick, Busy Corner, Coles, Crosby, Hiram, Liberty, Rosetta, and Saukum. Baton Rouge, Louisiana is about fifty-seven miles to the south, and Jackson, Mississippi is about one hundred and ten miles to the northeast. Gloster is home to the Gloster Arboretum, which was established in 1965, featuring a variety of plants and trees in a natural setting. The town is home to Company E, Detachment 1 of the 155th Brigade Combat Team of the Mississippi Army National Guard. The town was incorporated in 1884.
