The city of Benton is the county seat of Scott County, Missouri. The community was founded in 1822 by Captain William Meyers, and named for Missouri's first US senator, Thomas Hart Benton. Benton is situated west of I-55 and Lambert, east of Oran, and northeast of Morley.
