Cadet, Missouri is an unincorporated village in Union Township, eastern Washington County, Missouri. The community was founded in 1857, at the time that the St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern Railway was extended to the region. A Union town during the American Civil War, a band of Confederates robbed the stores at Cadet Station in 1864, kidnapping the proprietor as a conscript. Troops led by Union Major Samuel Montgomery caught up with the Confederates in St. Francois County, killing twenty-one of them, capturing one prisoner, and retrieving Mr. Marr, the proprietor of the store in Cadet. The village of Cadet is located along Missouri Highway 47, north of Mineral Point, northwest of Tiff, southeast of Happy Hollow, Mid Town, Old Mines and Racola, and northeast of Potosi.
