The village of Caledonia is located in the Bellevue Valley in Washington County, Missouri. Founded in 1819, the community was after the Latin name for Scotland. Alexander Craighead is credited with being the village’s founder, as he opened a general store on Goose Creek and platted the town around it. Much of Caledonia is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Caledonia is situated near the intersection of Missouri Highways 21 and 32. Belgrade is to the northwest, Irondale to the northeast, Iron Mountain to the southeast, and Belleview to the south.
