Creighton is a small city in Cass County, in midwestern Missouri. Creighton was formed as a result of the laying of the Kansas City, Clinton & Springfield Railroad in 1885, and named for John B. Creighton, an early settler and schoolmate of the railroad president. The first store in Creighton was established by Charles Gregg, while John V. Pettigrew built the first hotel. The town’s first school was a private one, but a school district was organized in 1886. The town was incorporated as a village in 1885, and as a city in 1895. Missouri Highway 7 runs northeast and southwest, and the city of Dayton is southwest of Creighton, Quick City to the north, and Lucas to the southeast.
