The city of Desloge, in St. Francois County, Missouri, was named for its founder, Firmin V. Desloge II, descendants of French nobility. Through his father, Desloge became acquainted with mining and acquired several mining claims in the areas that were to become Desloge and Bonne Terre, consolidating several local mining companies to form the Desloge Consolidated Lead Company. In 1887, he cleared land and built company houses, which became known as Desloge Town, incorporating as Desloge in 1941. Desloge is concentrated west of US Highway 67, with Branch 67 and Missouri Route 8 passing through the city. Flat River, Rivermines, and Esther are south of Desloge.
