Foley, Missouri is in Lincoln County. The community arose as a station along the St. Louis, Keokuk & Northwestern Railroad, fifty-five miles from the city of St. Louis. The city was founded in 1879 after William McGuire, the administrator of the Foley estate, laid out an addition to the town, and granted lots to the railroad on the condition that a depot be built there and named Foley, for Miss Addie Foley. Foley was incorporated in 1890, and is currently a fourth-class city. The city is divided by Missouri Highway 79 into a west and an east side, known as Ward 1 and Ward 2. Foley is located between two bends in Sandy Creek, and west of the Mississippi River. Parkers Park is east of the city.
