Grantwood Village, in St. Louis County, Missouri, is home to the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, Grant’s Trail, and Grant’s Farm which, along with most of the village, were once part of a larger plantation owned by Mrs. Grant’s family, and was later purchased by August Anheuser Busch, Sr. The village is located on just 0.8 square miles of land just north of Gravois Road and west of Laclede Station Road, in the greater St. Louis metro area. Grantwood Village is surrounded by Affton, St. George, Concord, Sappington, and Meacham Park. The city of St. Louis is to the northeast.

The 281-acre ancestral home of the Busch family was formerly part of a large plantation owned by Mrs. Grant’s family, a portion of which was worked by Ulysses S. Grant. Admission to Grant’s Farm, tram rides, and shows are complimentary, although some attractions require the payment of a small fee. Grantwood Village Preservation Society
The organization was founded to facilitate the festivities of Grantwood Village’s 75th anniversary, to document general information about the village’s history, and to support the preservation of its residential areas, Grant’s Farm, the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, and other entities within the boundaries of the village. The 75th Anniversary Commemorative Book is available for purchase online.

Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site
The Civil War general and the 18th president, Ulysses S. Grant, first met his future wife, Julia Dent, at her family home, known as White Haven and, from 1854 to 1859, the Dents, Grants, and a workforce of slaves lived on their plantation in what is now known as Grantwood Village, Missouri.
