The city of Hermitage is the county seat of Hickory County, Missouri. Founded in 1846, the city was named for the Tennessee estate of President Andrew Jackson. In 1847, the city was named the seat of the county government. Hermitage is situated along US Highway 54. The Pomme de Terre River winds around and through the city, and Lake Pomme de Terre is south of the city. Hermitage is southeast of Quincy, northeast of Galmey, northwest of Nemo, and southwest of Jordan.
