Originally known as West Kimmswick, Imperial is an unincorporated town in Jefferson County, Missouri, south of Arnold and north of Barnhart. Interstate Highway 55 runs through the town, and the Mastodon State Historic Site, where paleontologists have uncovered fossils of several glacial era mammals, is situated in Imperial. A museum is located on the site.
