The village of Jamestown, Missouri is in Moniteau County. The community was incorporated in 1873, and named for Edward and Samuel James, who had established a trading post there in 1846. The history of the village goes back to 1837, when John, William and Joshua Hightower constructed a tobacco factory in the area, at an intersection of roads leading to the river towns of Sandy Hook and Lupus, Missouri. Jamestown is reached by Missouri Highways 87 and 179, with 179 becoming Row Street within the village limits.
