Settled around 1822, Kelso, Missouri is a village in Scott County. Residents of Kelso may use a Kelso zip code or one for nearby Scott City. The first post office in Kelso was established in 1840, but the town’s name was Spring Hills at that time. The post office name was changed to Kelso when it reopened in 1858. It closed again in 1861, but reopened in 1874. Kelso was incorporated as a town in 1904, later becoming a village. Kelso is located along US Highway 61, west of Interstate Highway 55. Kelso is east of Rockview and south of Scott City and Cape Girardeau.
