Situated at the intersection of Interstate Highway 70, which is also US Highway 40, and US Highway 54, Kingdom City is a village in Callaway County, Missouri. The town of McCredie, now part of Kingdom City, was founded in 1871, but was hit hard by the depression. Its only bank closed in 1929, and was followed by several other business closures. When Highways 54 and 40 were constructed, the town received some relief, but it was not long lasting. Although it has retained a local identity, McCredie largely lost its identity when it was incorporated with Kingdom City in 1970, the latter gaining precedence due to its location at the intersection of the two main thoroughfares. Eastville is to the west of Kingdom City, and Calwood is to the southeast.
