Named for the body of water upon which it sits, the city of Lake Lotawana is a lake community in Jackson County, in western Missouri. The city was incorporated in 1958. The Blue and Gray Park Reserve is southeast of the city, Lake Jacamo is northwest, and the James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area is southwest. The city of Lees Summit is just over eight miles to the southeast, Tarsney is northeast, and Cockrell is south.
