Puxico is a small city in Stoddard County, Missouri. The town was formed in 1883, incorporating as a town the following year. By 1912, there were four general stores, a handle factory, canning factory, flour mill, saw mill, and planing mill in Puxico. The community is in southeastern Missouri, near the bootheel. Missouri Highway 51 passes through the city. Idlewild and Kinder are northeast of Puxico, Asherville is south, and Mingo is southwest of the city. Further southwest are Wappapello and a portion of the Mark Twain National Forest.
