The city of Reeds Spring is in Stone County, in southern Missouri. On February 13, 1934, a gun battle took place in Reeds Spring between the police and a gang of outlaws led by Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker. A local farmer by the name of Joe Gunn was taken captive by the Bonnie and Clyde gang, but was later released. Reeds Spring is accessed by Missouri Routes 248, 263, 413, and 13. Nearby communities include Abesville, Branson West, Chestnutridge, Galena, McCord Bend, and Merriam Woods. Portions of the Mark Twain National Forest are south of the city, east, and northeast.
