Seymour is in Webster County, Missouri. The city was laid out on what was mostly marshland in 1882, and incorporated in 1895.. The area was a large producer of apples in its early years. US Highway 60 ran through the center of town in the 1960s and, during the same period, the Frisco Railroad ran through Seymour, providing passenger and freight service. The Frisco became the Burlington Northern in 1980, and the old Frisco depot was dismantled. US Highway 60 now runs through the northeastern and northern part of the city, while Business 60 continues to pass through the center of the town. Seymour is southeast of Diggins, east of Finley Falls, and northwest of Cedar Gap.
