Named for François Vallé, who established lead mines there in the 1700s, Valles Mines is an unincorporated community in southern Jefferson County, Missouri. Founded in 1749, Valles Mines is one of the oldest settlements in Missouri. The town is located along US Highway 67. Surrounding communities include Blackwell, De Soto, Halifax, Koester, and Papin. St. Louis is forty-eight miles to the north.
