The town of Allenstown, in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, includes a part of the unincorporated village of Suncook, and more than half of the area of the town is covered by Bear Brook State Park. Allenstown was named for New Hampshire’s 17th century provincial governor, Samuel Allen. Formed in 1721, Allenstown was not incorporated until 1831, later annexing portions of Bow and Hooksett. Allenstown is situated within the Merrimack River watershed. Manchester is south of Allenstown while Concord is to the northwest.
