Incorporated by Colonial Governor Benning Wentworth in 1760, the town of Eaton, New Hampshire was named for Governor Theophilus Eaton of Connecticut. The Carroll County town includes the unincorporated village of Snowville, named for the Snow family, who started a sawmill there in 1825. Bounded to the east by Maine, the town’s largest bodies of water are Conway Lake, on its northern boundary, and Crystal Lake, near the center. The Little White Church, a town landmark, was built in 1879.
