Sugar Hill, a small town in Grafton County, New Hampshire, is a resort community overlooking the White Mountain National Forest. To date, Sugar Hill is the second youngest town, having been separated from Lisbon after considerable litigation, and incorporated in 2001. The area was settled in the early to mid 1800s, its chief growth coming after rail service was extended to the area in 1880. The actress, Bette Davis, is a summer visitor of Sugar Hill, and other residents of the town have included Potter Stewart, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, and Harlan Fiske Stone, Chief Justice of the United States. Sugar Hill is west of Franconia and east of Lisbon.
