Named for the largest natural lake in New Jersey, the community of Budd Lake is a census-designated place in Mount Olive Township, Morris County, New Jersey. Named for John Budd, who owned 1,300 acres in the area in 1714, the lake itself is the source of the South Branch of the Raritan River. Prior to that, it was known as Hattacawanna Lake. Budd Lake is east of Hackettstown and west of Succasunna.
