Buena was incorporated as a borough, from portions of Buena Vista Township, by the New Jersey Legislature in 1948. The borough includes the unincorporated communities of Landisville and Minotola, which have had their own post office addresses since 1871 and 1897 respectively, and is bordered by Vineland and the townships of Franklin and Buena Vista.
