Carneys Point Township is in Salem County, New Jersey. The township was originally formed as Upper Penns Neck Township in 1721, after Penn's Neck Township was subdivided, and incorporated in 1798. In 1976, the township was renamed Carneys Point Township. The township is bordered by the townships of Oldmans, Pilesgrove, Mannington, and Pennsville, as well as Penns Grove. The Delaware Memorial Bridge connects Carneys Point with Delaware, as it crosses the Delaware River.
