Located in north-central Essex County, Cedar Grove Township was initially incorporated as Verona Township in 1892. Its name was changed to Cedar Grove in 1908. Cedar Grove is between the First and Second Watchung Mountains, with the center of the township located in a valley. Cedar Grove is divided into three sections: North End, Central Cedar Grove, and South End.
