Collingswood, New Jersey is a borough in Camden County. The community was settled in the late 17th century by Quakers, who built homes along Newton Creek and Cooper River, establishing the Newton Colony, which became Newton Township. Named for the Collings family, who owned much of the area now occupied by the town in the 18th and 19th centuries, Collingswood was incorporated as a borough in 1888. Collingswood is bordered by Camden, Haddon Township, Oaklyn, Pennsauken, Woodlynne, and the Cooper River.
