Named for a combination of the Delaware River and Rancocas Creek, which border the township, Delanco was initially known as Del-Ranco or Delaranco, which was later abbreviated to Delanco. When the community was first incorporated as a township, it was named Beverly as, at that time, it included the settlement of Beverly, which later became an independent city. Delanco Township, in Burlington County, New Jersey, took on its old name again in 1926. Delanco is bordered by the Delaware River, Beverly, and the townships of Delran, Edgewater Park, Riverside, and Willingboro.
