Formed from parts of Caldwell Township in 1902, the borough of Essex Fells is in Essex County, New Jersey. In 1981, it became a township in order to take advantage of federal revenue sharing benefits but, in 1992. it reverted to borough status. Located in western Essex County, Grover Cleveland Park, a heavily wooded park, is along the Caldwell-Essex Fells border. The borough has no apartment buildings, condominiums, office buildings, or traffic lights, and the only units available for rent are in carriage houses and ancillary structures.
