The borough of Flemington, New Jersey is an independent municipality that is entirely surrounded by Raritan Township. The seat of Hunterdon County, Flemington is mostly located in the Amwell Valley, although parts of the borough is on the Hunterdon Plateau. Flemington was originally established as a town in 1870, becoming a village in 1894, and a borough in 1910, at which time it was separated from Raritan Township.
