Situated on top of the Hudson Palisades, the borough of Fort Lee is the western terminus of the George Washington Bridge, across the Hudson River from Manhattan, in Bergen County, New Jersey. Fort Lee was named for General Charles Lee, after George Washington and his troops had camped at Mount Constitution overlooking Burdett’s Landing. Fort Lee was incorporated in 1904, replacing Ridgefield Township.
