Haddon Township was named for Elizabeth Haddon Estaugh, the daughter of John Haddon, who arrived in the American colonies in 1701 to oversee his large holdings, which included the area that was to become Haddon Township and Haddon Heights. Haddon Township was incorporated from parts of Newton Township in 1865, and currently has two enclaves: West Collingswood Heights and West Collingswood Extension, while its downtown area is known as Westmont. Haddon Township is bordered by Audubon, Audubon Park, Camden, Cherry Hill, Collingswood, Gloucester City, Haddonfield, Mount Ephraim, and Oaklyn.
