Haledon is a borough in Passaic County, New Jersey. The community was settled along north Paterson by Dutch farmers, who helped to establish St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and several area businesses. Following the Civil War, the community became a streetcar suburb of Paterson, with its central area known as Haledon, while the area surrounding the large pond along High Mountain Road became known as Oldham. Haledon was incorporated as a borough in 1908.
