Lakewood Township is in Ocean County, New Jersey. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Lakewood was one of the New York City region's winter resorts, due to climate situations that were a few degrees warmer than in the City, as well as the picturesque qualities of Lake Carasaljo and the surrounding pine forest. Lakewood was incorporated as a township in 1892. It is home to the largest yeshivas in the world and is also one of the hubs of Orthodox Judaism.
