The New Jersey township of Little Falls was incorporated in 1868. Located about fifteen miles from New York City, Little Falls has three main subdivisions: Great Notch, in the eastern part of the township; the center of town; and Singac, in the western part of the township, bordering the Passaic River. Little Falls Township is bordered by Cedar Grove, Clifton, Fairfield, Montclair, North Caldwell, Totowa, Wayne, and Woodland Park. In the 1930s, the township was known for the Colonial Inn, where Jackie Gleason performed stand-up.
