Manasquan, New Jersey was incorporated as a borough in 1887. The area first came to the notice of European colonists in September of 1609, when Sir Hendryck Hudson, who was sailing in the area of Sandy Hook, made an entry in his log book that the region was “a good land to fall in with and a pleasant land to see.” Until 1801, Manasquan was a part of Shrewsbury. Later becoming part of Howell Township, the Wall Township, before separating to create its own community in 1887.
