Montague Township, in Sussex County, New Jersey, was incorporated in 1798, as one of the state's original townships. High Point, the highest peak of the Kittatinny Mountains, is situated within the township, and is the highest point in New Jersey. Until the 1980s, when Montague Township got its own post office, residents had new Jersey drivers licenses with New York addresses, ad hey received their mail from Port Jervis, New York. There are no traffic lights in Montague Township.
