North Hanover Township was incorporated in 1905 from portions of New Hanover Township. North Hanover is in Burlington County, New Jersey, northeast of Fort Dix, north of Browns Mills, and southwest of Plumsted Township. I-95 is north of the township, while I-295 is to the west. McGuire Air Force Base is an unincorporated community in New Hanover and North Hanover townships, while Ameytown is an unincorporated town within the township.
