The borough of Norwood, in Bergen County, New Jersey, was established from portions of Harrington Township in 1905. The area was settled in by Dutch in 1670, who had purchased the land under the Tappan Grant. The community developed as part of Harrington Township, as a form of its description as the North Woods. Norwood is bordered by the boroughs of Alpine, Closter, Harrington Park, Old Tappan, and Rockleigh.
